More Trail

We got up in the morning and ate an American breakfast at the Blue Marlin Bar. Breakfast in Italy usually consists of a pastry, but in anticipation of our hike today we filled our bellies with scrambled eggs, sausage and bread. Our plan was to hike the rest of the trail that connects the towns of Cinque Terre. This time we hiked east from Vernazza through the towns of Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. The hike between Vernazza and Corniglia was by far the most difficult, heading nearly straight uphill for what seemed like the entire hike.

During our trek we stopped for a little while in each town, but since they are so small there really wasn't much to see. When we reached the final town, Riomaggiore, we caught a train back to Vernazza to enjoy the rest of our day. After a short nap at our hotel, we bought a couple bottles of wine and the six of us finished them near the beach.

For dinner, we chose a trattoria called Gianni Franzi. It was typical Italia fare — pastas for the primi dish and meat for the secondi. After dinner we decided to call it an early night. We were scheduled to catch a train at 8:18 the next morning on our way to Rome.
