Training then Grouse Mountain

Tuesday was our first day of training so we met Rick down in the hotel lobby and walked to Marqui's headquarters, about 5 blocks away. Mike and I trained for the first part of the day, then went to lunch at a place called Cardero's with Richard Robinson and Ryan Stocker, both of Marqui.
We met up with Caroling Lee (a coworker) at about 5:00 p.m. at the hotel. Caroling was just off of an Alaskan cruise porting in Seattle and decided to come to Vancouver to train with Mike and I. That evening we caught an ocean taxi called the Seabus to the North Shore of Vancouver. Then we took a cab to Grouse Mountain and arrived at the top by way of a gondola lift. The top of the mountain was freezing, which we were totally unprepared for. The rest of Vancouver was cool, but nothing like this. We made a frigid 10 minute walk to a place where several grizzly bears were held in captivity. The bears must have been cold too because they were no where to be found.
At 8:30 we had dinner reservations at a place called The Observatory so we headed that way (still on the top of the mountain). Before dinner we had drinks at a bar near the restaurant. Mike got an Irish coffee, Caroling got a Baileys and coffee and I had a hot toddy. After warming up a bit and enjoying an incredible view of Vancouver at night, we made our way to the restaurant. At dinner we ordered a bottle of Canadian wine which was quite good and ate healthy portions of fish, lobster and pork. We had coffee for dessert before making our way back down the mountain and then back to the hotel.
